El Ayuntamiento de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria celebrará el 5º Open de Fotografía Submarina, el Fotosub 2013, en la Playa de Las Canteras, del 20 al 22 de septiembre, con el objetivo de acercar la biodiversidad de esta playa capitalina a todos los públicos, y promocionar la ciudad como destino para la práctica del buceo.
El Fotosub 2013 mantendrá la modalidad profesional, aficionado e infantil (de 8 a 14 años) y contará con actividades paralelas con charlas técnicas, bautizos de mar y talleres infantiles. Las pruebas tendrán lugar, como en años anteriores, en la zona del Charcón de la Playa de Las Canteras.
La próxima cita capitalina de fotografía submarina, organizada por las Concejalías de Turismo y Ciudad de Mar del Consistorio capitalino, volverá a contar con la dirección técnica de Enrique Fáber, fotógrafo profesional con más de 30 años de experiencia, y cuyos trabajos han sido reconocidos por numerosas publicaciones y eventos deportivos en todo el mundo.
La Playa de Las Canteras es un lugar excepcional para la práctica de la fotografía submarina independientemente de la experiencia fotográfica, preparación técnica y edad, gracias a su buen estado de salud con más de 50 especies diferentes de peces, su escasa profundidad y la existencia de La Barra, que evita oleajes y mareas intensas para la práctica, a aballo entre la fotografía y el deporte.
La edil de Ciudad de Mar, Mimi González, destaca que el Fotosub “está consolidado y vuelve a ser una cita obligada en el calendario anual de fotografía submarina en Canarias, tanto por el alto nivel técnico de sus competidores, como porque se trata de una de las pocas pruebas que permite la participación de profesionales, aficionados y niños en el mismo evento”.

The City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will host the 5th Underwater Photography Open, Fotosub 2013, at Las Canteras Beach, from the 20th to the 23rd September, aiming to get all the public closer to the biodiversity that is present in this capital beach, and to promote the city as a destination for snorkelling and scuba diving.
The Fotosub 2013 will maintain the modalities professional, amateur, and kids (8 to 14 years old), and will also have parallel activities with technical lectures, first dives, and children workshops. The contest will take place, as usual, in the area of El Charcón of Las Canteras Beach.
The next capital city underwater photography event, organised by the City Council of Tourism and City of Sea, will again feature the technical direction of Enrique Fáber, professional photographer with more tan 30 years of experience, whose Works have been received recognition by several publications and sporting events worldwide.
Las Canteras Beach is an exceptional place for the practise of underwater photography, no matter the prior experience, technical preparation or age, thank to its perfect conditions with more tan 50 different species of fish, its shallow waters and La Barra, a natural reef that keeps the practise of this activity, half sport, half photography, from the waves and strong currents.
The City Councillor of City of Sea, Mimi González, highlighted that the Fotosub “is consolidated and becomes again a must event in the yearly calendar of underwater photography in the Canaries, both due to the technical level of its competitors and due to it is one of the few events that allows the participation professionals, amateurs and children in the same event”.
