Sports Pier

The Sports Pier is located in the city centre, next to Las Alcaravaneras Beach. It is the largest marina for small craft in the Canary Islands and a major stopover for transatlantic sailors from all five continents.

This is where the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC) sets off every November, a transatlantic sailing regatta bound for the Caribbean. It is one of the city’s most spectacular winter scenes.

The marina has 1,363 berths on pontoons for vessels of up to 50 metres in length, specialised workshops and a full maintenance service for repairs and nautical spare parts. Boat rental services are also available.

The Varadero Maritime Club, the Latin Sailing Boats Federation and the Sailing School have their facilities at the Sports Pier.

The area also features terraces and restaurants where visitors can enjoy a drink or a meal while taking in the atmosphere and views of the port and the bay.
