All Saints – Los Finaos

Culture, leisure and tradition come together in the city during the celebration of the Finaos, the local name for the festivities that honour the deceased. In the historic district of Vegueta, between 31 October and 2 November, a variety of activities take place, including the roasting of chestnuts and pinecones, as well as traditional music and dancing. The old town also keeps alive the tradition of All Saints’ Eve with a theatrical performance of Don Juan Tenorio by Zorrilla.

In the San Lorenzo neighbourhood, the Night of the Finaos brings residents together in the local square to pay tribute to the deceased.
