How to move

  • On foot

Walking around Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is an appealing option at any time of year, thanks to its mild climate and the flat layout of the city’s central area. Along the seafront, two pedestrian promenades make it easy to get around while also offering panoramic views of the city, the port and its beaches.

  • By bus

The main form of public transport in the city is the guagua (bus), easily recognised in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria by the yellow colour of the vehicles. The service operated by Guaguas Municipales covers the entire municipal area. In the city’s elongated urban centre—shaped around the historic district of Vegueta and the area of the port and Las Canteras Beach—bus connections are direct and frequent, and it is easy to catch a bus at the many stops distributed throughout the city.

A single journey costs €1.40, payable directly to the driver on board. There are also various contactless travel passes available. Visitors can choose the shared travel card, with a minimum top-up of €8.50, or the tourist card valid for 1 or 3 days, which includes unlimited travel during that period. Travel passes can be purchased at Guaguas Municipales offices and at numerous kiosks around the city.

  • Bicycle / skateboard

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has almost 50 kilometres of cycle lanes, a very practical network for getting around the lower part of the city. Moxsi manages the public bike and scooter rental service, known as Sítycleta and Sítyneta respectively. The service offers both mechanical and electric vehicles, operating under a sustainable model with affordable prices.

  • Cab

To stop an available taxi on the street (indicated by a green light), simply raise your hand. You can also go to one of the taxi ranks located throughout the city or request a taxi by phone.

  • Tourist bus

The company City Sightseeing operates its tourist bus service in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, popularly known as the guagua turística. All routes and fares can be consulted on its official website, along with detailed information about the itineraries, which can also be combined with walking routes. Bookings can be made online.

The guagua turística also offers boat tour services around the Port of Las Palmas.

  • Parking

The city has a network of public parking lots managed by the municipal company Sagulpa, as well as private parking lots. On the surface there are regulated parking areas, marked as blue zone and green zone. Payment for the service is made at the parking meters and in the LPA Park application, which also provides information on the location and current occupancy of blue and green zones, as well as public car parks.

  • Intercity transportation

The company Global connects the city with the rest of the island. It operates from two stations: the Santa Catalina Park Interchange and the San Telmo Park Bus Station.
