In the upper part of the city, the Schamann neighbourhood pays tribute in its streets and squares to Benito Pérez Galdós, the most universal writer from Gran Canaria. This area is also a perfect vantage point from which to step out and enjoy sweeping panoramic views of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the Atlantic Ocean, and especially the Port of Las Palmas.
