Canarias Music Festival

With more than forty editions, the Canarias Music Festival is one of the major winter events on the international classical music circuit, placing the Canary Islands and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on the radar of music lovers from around the world.

Every year, in January and February, leading orchestras and soloists perform at the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus, the festival’s main venue in the capital, as well as at other spaces such as the Teatro Pérez Galdós and the Teatro Guiniguada.

Conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Riccardo Muti, Daniel Barenboim, Sir Colin Davis, John Eliot Gardiner, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Sir Simon Rattle, Lorin Maazel and Gustavo Dudamel; soloists of the stature of Alfredo Kraus, Plácido Domingo, José Carreras, Mstislav Rostropovich, Krystian Zimerman, Ivo Pogorelich and Yo Yo Ma; and leading ensembles such as the Berlin Philharmonic, Vienna Philharmonic, the Concertgebouw, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Philharmonia Orchestra of London have all taken part in the Canarias Music Festival.
