Crafts

Traditional pottery, basketry, ceramics, Canarian cutlery, jewellery, embroidered table linens and clothing are among the products available in shops specialising in Canarian craftsmanship—mainly located in the districts of Vegueta and Triana, and around Santa Catalina Park—as well as at fairs and street markets.

Close to Triana Street, the FEDAC shop (Fundación para la Etnografía y el Desarrollo de la Artesanía Canaria) offers a curated selection of traditional and contemporary pieces created by artisans associated with this institution of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, which also organises a craft fair in San Telmo Park during the Christmas season.

In Vegueta, Plaza del Pilar Nuevo hosts the Arts and Culture Craft Market every Sunday, with stalls offering everything from traditional items made by Canarian artisans to locally grown fruit and vegetables.

Throughout the year, the city hosts various street markets where handcrafted goods, locally made pieces and local produce take centre stage. Typical locations include Luis Morote Street, next to Santa Catalina Park; Mesa y López Avenue; and along the Las Canteras promenade, particularly in the La Puntilla area and at the La Cícer footbridge.
