El escenario elegido para inaugurar un simposio sobre la calidad del sector turístico difícilmente podría ser más acertado: Con el océano atlántico como telón de fondo, las olas que baten la playa de Las Canteras y la terraza del Palacio de Congresos de Canarias – Auditorio Alfredo Kraus, ambos certificados con la “Q” de Calidad Turística- conformarán el escenario desde el que se inaugurará oficialmente el Congreso Internacional de Calidad Turística, CICTE 2013.
El alcalde de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Juan José Cardona, y el Presidente del Instituto para la Calidad Turística (ICTE), D. Miguel Mirones, han sido los encargados de dar la bienvenida a los ponentes y congresistas.
Entre el 9 y el 11 de octubre de octubre Las Palmas de Gran Canaria es el epicentro del debate en torno al turismo de calidad como principal vía de desarrollo del sector a nivel internacional,en las políticas y planes estratégicos en el desarrollo de productos y destinos turísticos.
La conferencia inaugural, hoy jueves 10 de octubre, estará a cargo del Director Ejecutivo de Competitividad, Relaciones Exteriores y Asociaciones de la Organización Mundial de Turismo, Márcio Favilla. Por su parte, la Secretaria de Estado de Turismo, Isabel Borrego, será la encargada de cerrar la convención y aportar el punto de vista de la administración central.
Por otra parte, en las sesiones paralelas que arrancan el miércoles se congregarán los técnicos encargados de desarrollar algunas de las normas ISO y varios Comités de Certificación de la “Q Calidad”; así como reuniones de Miembros Afiliados de la OMT y Juntas Directivas de distintas asociaciones sectoriales.

The scenario to open a symposium about quality on the tourist sector could not have been better: having the Atlantic Ocean as background, the waves washing Las Canteras Beach and the terrace of the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium and Congress Hall of the Canaries, both awarded the “Q” for Tourist Quality, become the set from where the II International Congress of Tourist Quality CICTE 2013 will be opened.
The Mayor of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Mr. Juan José Cardona and the President of the Spanish Institute for Tourist Quality (ICTE), Mr. Miguel Mirones, have welcomed the lecturers and congressmen.
Between the 9th and 11th October 2013, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria becomes the ground zero of the discussion around quality tourism as the main way to develop this sector to an international level, both in politics and strategic plans in improving tourist products and destinations.
The opening conference, to be held today 10th of October, will be given by the Executive Director of Competitiveness, foreign Relations and Associations of the World Tourism Organisation, Mr. Márcio Favilla. On the other hand, the State Minister of Tourism, Mrs, Isabel Borrego, will be will closet he convention and also give the central administration’s point of view.
The parallel sessions that began on Wednesday will be attended by technicians who develop some of the ISO standards, and some Certification Committees of the “Quality Q”, as well as affiliate members of the WTO and Directing boards of different sectorial associations.
