El Ayuntamiento invita a los ciudadanos a disfrutar de la gran fiesta del mar, desde el viernes 8 hasta el domingo 10 de marzo, en la Plaza de Canarias y en el muelle Santa Catalina, con exhibiciones náuticas, talleres, conciertos y las últimas novedades del mercado
Una gran parada naval frente a la Avenida Marítima despedirá, el domingo 10, al Buque Escuela, que navegará hasta el barrio marinero de San Cristóbal con las velas desplegadas
La Feria Internacional del Mar, FIMAR 2013, que tendrá lugar desde el próximo viernes 8 al domingo 10 de marzo, en la Plaza de Canarias, se vestirá de gala para recibir y despedir al emblemático Buque Escuela de la Armada Española, Juan Sebastián Elcano, que desde primera hora del viernes se encuentra atracado en la dársena exterior de la Base Naval y que largará amarras, rumbo a San Juan de Puerto Rico, el domingo a las 13.00 horas.
FIMAR 2013, organizada por el Ayuntamiento de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, en colaboración con la Autoridad Portuaria, la Armada Española, y la Federación Provincial de la Pequeña y Mediana Empresa del Metal y Nuevas Tecnologías de Las Palmas, (FEMEPA), homenajeará la historia marinera del buque con visitas escolares y talleres infantiles sobre el Juan Sebastián Elcano y la figura del primer navegante que logró dar la vuelta al mundo en 1522.
Este emblemático velero abrirá sus puertas al público que quiera subir a visitarlo el sábado 9, entre las 10.00 y las 13.00 horas; y, entre las 16.00 y las 18.00 horas. El domingo 10, las visitas se podrán realizar entre las 10.00 y las 12.00 horas.
La despedida del Buque Escuela será toda una fiesta, el domingo 9 a partir de las 13.00 horas, con una gran parada naval con motivo de su salida. El Ayuntamiento ha invitado a todas las embarcaciones de vela ligera, deportivas, pesqueras y recreativas a sumarse desde el mar; mientras, los ciudadanos que lo deseen podrán contemplar al Juan Sebastián Elcano, navegando, por primera vez en paralelo al litoral de la Ciudad, hasta el barrio marinero de San Cristóbal, antes de tomar rumbo a alta mar.

FIMAR 2013, the International Sea Fair that will take place from next Friday the 8th until Sunday the 10th at Plaza de Canarias will dress up in style to welcome and give farewell to emblematic school-ship of the Spanish Royal Navy Juan Sebastián Elcano, that is already berthed on the eastern wharf of the Naval Base from early on Friday and will cast off to San Juan de Puerto Rico on Sunday at 1pm.
FIMAR 2013, organized by the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and in collaboration with the Port Authority, the Spanish Royal Navy and the Provincial Federation of the Small and Medium Entrepreneurship of Metal and New Technologies of Las Palmas (FEMEPA), will honour the ship’s life with school visits and children workshops about Juan Sebastián Elcano and to the figure of the first sailor ever to round the globe in 1522.
This emblematic tall-ship will open her doors for public visits on Saturday the 9th from 10am to 1pm and from 4pm to 6pm. On Sunday the 10th, visits will be available from 10am to 12 noon.
Farewell giving to the ship will be a great party with a naval parade on Sunday the 10th from 1pm to honour her departure. The City Council has invited all the light boats both fishing, sport and leisure ones to join up, whereas citizens who wish to watch the astonishing scene will be able to see the Juan Sebastián Elcano in full sail for the first time along the city’s coastline until the fishing district of San Cristóbal before cast off to open seas.
