La Regenta Art Centre, managed by the Government of the Canary Islands, is located in a building that formerly was a cigar factory, built in the first half of the twentieth century, in the area of Santa Catalina, next to the cruise pier and Las Canteras Beach.
It homes itinerant exhibitions of plastic art all year round, and it has a documentation centre and pedagogic workshops.
The building itself stands due its clear and simple elevation, with an Art Decó resemblance. Its interior organisation circles around a big patio and a system of galleries that are similar to the traditional Canarian architecture of patio-houses.
