El Festival Internacional de Cine de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria presenta, el próximo viernes 22 de marzo, a las 20:00 horas, la primera exposición de la obra plástica del cineasta grancanario Elio Quiroga, dentro del proyecto LPA FILMS que amplía los contenidos del Festival de Cine a lo largo del año.
Cartelera, integrada por 16 obras de 75 x 100 cm. (similar a un cartel de cine) y 10 bocetos de pequeño formato, imagina los affiches de un multicine. La exposición, iniciativa de la Galería Manuel Ojeda, podrá visitarse hasta el viernes 26 de abril en su sede, situada en la Calle Buenos Aires, 3 (Triana).
Quiroga, creador de uno de los melodramas más influyentes de los últimos 20 años, la legendaria Fotos (premio al Mejor Guión y Mención Especial del Jurado en el Festival de Sitges, 1997); artífice del corto El último minutero (nominado al Goya al Mejor Corto Documental en 2004); y director y guionista de los largometrajes La hora fría (2007) y No-Do (2009) que han pasado por las Secciones Oficiales de festivales como Sitges, Fantasporto, Bruselas, Amsterdam, Austin, Pifan (Corea del Sur), Los Angeles, Frightfest, Edinburgh Dead by Dawn, Toronto After Dark, o Gerardmer International Fantasy Film Festival, entre otros; abre un terreno de exploración pictórica lleno de riqueza, matices y fascinación.
Quiroga, además, ha dirigido cortometrajes de animación como Me llamo María (2010), preseleccionado a los Oscar 2011 al Mejor Corto de Animación, y Home Delivery (2006), adaptación de un cuento de Stephen King con Guillermo del Toro, en Selección Oficial de numerosos y prestigiosos festivales internacionales.
