The Biblioteca Insular (Island Library) is located on Plaza Hurtado de Mendoza, better known as Plaza de las Ranas. It opened its doors to the general public in 1991, but the original building was built in 1898. It is one of the most impressive samples of the late nineteenth century's architecture, and one of the most significant buildings of the Triana-Vegueta urban area. Its ecleptic architecture has had many different uses and restorations works. It has benn declared a good of cultural interest.

Due to the special characteristics of its bibliographic and documentary funds with heritage character, the library offers a unique source for research.

Winter (October to June): Monday to Thursday: 8:30 to 20:30. Friday: 8:30 to 20:00

Summer (July to September): 8:30 to 19:15

Study hall 24h: 20:30 to 8:30
