El Ayuntamiento de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, a través de la Concejalía de Turismo, celebrará el Día Mundial del Turismo, el próximo viernes 27 de septiembre de 2013, entre las 9.00 y las 18.00 horas, en el Parque de Santa Catalina, con una jornada de puertas abiertas en la Casa del Turismo, música tradicional canaria, historia, gastronomía y ofertas especiales para recorrer la ciudad en la Guagua Turística.
Las actividades programadas para el próximo viernes 27 de septiembre comenzarán a las 9.00 horas con visitas guiadas a la Casa del Turismo, edificio ideado y construido por los hermanos Néstor y Miguel Martín - Fernández de la Torre, en la primera mitad del S. XX, y que reabrió sus puertas el pasado 18 de abril, como nuevo espacio de referencia para los visitantes y la industria turística en LPGC. Las visitas se desarrollarán cada media hora hasta las 18.00 horas y contarán con informadores turísticos.
El Parque Santa Catalina acogerá a partir de las 12.00 horas, la actuación del grupo folclórico ‘Poligüanches’, y el Bodegón Casa Fataga ofrecerá durante la jornada, tapas de gastronomía canaria + bebida, por 3 euros, y un menú especial con motivo del Día Mundial del Turismo.
La Guagua Turística y la Tarjeta Turística de la ciudad, LPA Card, también se sumarán a esta celebración y promocionarán el destino ‘Capital City’ con ofertas especiales en sus servicios. La LPA Card, con un descuento especial del 20% en el precio de la tarjeta, y la Guagua Turística ofrecerá sus billetes a los residentes canarios por 4 euros y regalará el segundo billete con un 2 x 1. Los turistas también tendrán un descuento del 50% sobre la tarifa habitual
Por otra parte, el edil de Turismo, recibirá mañana martes 24 de septiembre a las 11.00 horas, a un grupo de profesionales veteranos del sector turístico de la Isla, que recorrerán la ciudad en la Guagua Turística, con motivo de esta celebración.
El Día Mundial del Turismo se celebra en 2013 bajo el lema ‘Turismo y agua. Proteger nuestro futuro común’ con el objetivo de fomentar la sensibilización respecto a la importancia del turismo y su valor social, cultural, político y económico.

The Town Hall of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, from the City Council of Tourism, will celebrate the World Tourism Day next Friday the 27th of September between 9am and 6pm at Parque Santa Catalina, with an open-door day at the House of Tourism, Canary music, history, gastronomy and special offers to visit the city on the Tourist Bus.
Programmed activities for next Friday the 27th of September will start at 9am with guided visits to the House of Tourism, a building designed and created by brothers Néstor and Miguel Martín-Fernández de la Torre in the first half of the twentieth Century and that was reopened last 18th of April as a new space of reference for visitors and the tourist industry in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Guided visits will take place every 30 minutes until 6pm.
Parque Santa Catalina will host from 12noon a music show by Canary folk group ‘Poligüanches’. Along the day, the “Bodegón Casa Fataga” cellar will offer titbits of Canary food and a drink for 3€ and a special World Tourism Day menu.
The Tourist Bus and the city’s tourist card LPA Card will also sum up to this celebration and will promote the destination “Capital City” with special offers on their services. The LPA Card will have a special discount of a 20% over the normal price of the card, and the Tourist Bus will offer a special price for residents of 4€ per ticket with a 2x1 offer, being the second ticket free. Tourists will also benefit from a discount of a 50% over their regular fee.
On the other hand, due to these celebrations, tomorrow Tuesday the 24th of September at 11am, the City Councillor of Tourism will welcome a group of veteran professionals of the tourist sector of the island who will make a tour around the city on the Tourist Bus.
The World Tourism Day is celebrated in 2013 under the slogan “Tourism and water. To protect our common future” aiming to promote awareness about the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, politic and economic importance.
