El 2º Festival Gastronómico San Cristóbal Sabor a Mar, que se celebrará los días 24, 25 y 26 de mayo en el barrio marinero de San Cristóbal, organizado por el Ayuntamiento de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria a través de la Concejalía de Ciudad de Mar, ofrecerá una ruta gastronómica de tapas marineras, que tendrá como protagonista la vieja colorada; paseos en barco por el litoral, actividades de surf, paddle y piragüismo; regatas de vela y unas jornadas con participación de cocineros profesionales.
Ruta de tapas marineras y la vieja colorada
Los restauradores y cocineros de San Cristóbal han preparado una ruta de tapas marineras que tendrá como protagonista a la vieja colorada uno de los especies mejor valorada de la cocina canaria. Los restaurantes El Áncora, El Atlante, Los Botes, El Chacalote, La Cofradía de San Cristóbal, La Marea y La Pescadora sacarán sus barras a la calle y ofrecerán tapa + bebida a dos euros el viernes 24, el sábado 25 y el domingo 26 de mayo, desde las 12.00 horas. La ruta estará animada con cinco grupos que interpretarán música en vivo en el entorno de los locales.
El festival gastronómico comenzará el viernes 24, entre las 10.00 y las 12.00 horas, con unos talleres escolares dirigidos a Centros de Enseñanza Infantil y Primaria del Cono Sur de la Ciudad para acercar la escuela a las tradiciones marineras, la pesca tradicional y la gastronomía saludable que ofrece el mar.
Por la tarde, a partir de las 18.30 horas, en la explanada del muelle pesquero, se desarrollará una de las novedades del evento, las jornadas dedicadas a la cocina del marisco canario y la vieja colorada con la participación de cocineros profesionales que ofrecerán su opinión y genevepharmacie.nu. El Instituto Canario de Ciencias Marinas distribuirá recetarios para elaborar platos con marisco canario y los ciudadanos podrán degustar ‘pinchos de camarón’.
El sábado 25 serán una jornada abierta al mar con paseos por el litoral del barrio hasta el fondeadero de La Laja, entre las 11.00 y las 14.00 horas, y entre las 16.30 y las 18.00 horas, en embarcaciones de vela y de pesca tradicional. Las salidas serán desde el puerto pesquero, con plazas limitadas y a las que se podrá acceder previa inscripción en la carpa municipal, instalada en la explanada del muelle. Talleres infantiles con motivos marinos, venta de pescado fresco, un mercadillo de artesanía, actividades náuticas de kayak, paddle surf y buceo completarán stop-any-disease.com.
Por otra parte, los aficionados podrán seguir desde el festival, la 1ª Regata de Vela Ligera Barrio Marinero de San Cristóbal, desde las 12.00 horas y el Concurso Día de Canarias de Vela Latina, desde las 17.00 horas.
Las actividades programadas continuarán el domingo 26 con los Paseos Marítimos, las actividades de kayak, paddle surf y buceo y las actividades infantiles; aunque una de las imágenes protagonistas de la mañana será el chinchorro tradicional que realizará la Cooperativa de Pescadores de San Cristóbal y la regata de Vela Latina, 2ª Eliminatoria Trofeo la Caja de Canarias que dibujarán la postal del litoral del barrio.
San Cristóbal acogerá además el domingo un mercadillo tradicional de artesanía que se cerrará a partir de las 13.00 horas con un concierto en la explanada del Paseo Marítimo a cargo de la banda NI FUnk Ni Fank.
Acceso y aparcamientos
El Ayuntamiento ha habilitado una zona de aparcamiento en la entrada al barrio, en el solar de las antiguas instalaciones del agua de San Roque para facilitar el acceso en vehículo particular a todos los ciudadanos que quieran acercarse al barrio durante todo el fin de semana.

The 2nd Gastronomy Festival San Cristóbal Sabor a Mar (Taste like Sea), to be celebrated next 24th, 25th and 26th of May at the fishing borough of San Cristóbal, and that is organised by the City Council of City of Sea of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, will offer a gastronomy route of marine-food “tapas” (titbits) having as main characters the red parrotfish, sailing routes along the coastline, surf activities, paddle, kayaking, sailing regattas, and sessions by professional chefs.
Marine-food titbits and the red parrotfish
The cooks and chefs from San Cristóbal have prepared a route of marine titbits having the red parrotfish as main character. This is one of the highest valued of the Canary cuisine. Restaurants El Áncora, El Atlante, Los Botes, El Chacalote, La Cofradía de San Cristóbal, La Marea and La Pescadora will display their bar son the street and will offer a titbit and a drink for 2€ from 12noon of Friday the 24th. Five bands will enliven the route playing live music around the locals.
The gastronomic festival will begin on Friday 24th, between 10am and 12noon, with workshops for children of elementary and primary schools of the southern end of the city. This activity aims to get the fishing traditions and the healthy gastronomy offered by the sea closer to the children.
In the afternoon hours, after 6.30pm, at the square of the fishing dock, we will enjoy one of the novelties for this year’s edition. The cuisine sessions focused on the Canary seafood and the red parrotfish, with professional chefs who will give their opinion and experience. The Canary Institute of Marine Sciences will give out recipes to prepare dishes with Canary seafood, and citizens will be able to taste “prawn titbits”.
Saturday the 25th will become a day open to the sea, with routes along the coastline to the anchorage of La Laja in sailing and traditional fishing boats, between 11am and 2pm, and between 4.30pm and 6pm. Departures will be made from the fishing dock and will have limited spaces thus making necessary to register previously at the booth of the City Council placed at the fishing dock square. The day will be completed with workshops for children with marine themes, sale of fresh fish, a handicraft market, water activities like kayaking, paddle surf and scuba diving.
On the other hand, sailing fans will be able to watch at 12noon, from the festival area, the 1st Dinghy Race Fishing Borough of San Cristóbal, and the Lateen Sailing Day of the Canaries Contest from 5pm.
The scheduled activities will continue on Sunday 26th with sailing routes, kayaking, paddle surf, scuba diving, and activities for children. However, one of the main images of the morning will be the traditional chinchorro (hand-dragnet fishing) prepared by the Fishermen’s Guild of San Cristóbal, and the lateen sailing race 2nd Preliminary Round La Caja de Canarias Trophy, that will live up the coastline of the borough.
San Cristóbal will also host a traditional handicraft market on Sunday, ending with a concert at 1pm at the fishing dock square performed by local band Ni Funk Ni Fank.
Access & parking
The City Council has prepared a parking área at the entrance of the borough, at the site of former facilities of Agua San roque, toe ase the access of citizens and visitors by car along the weekend.
