Las Palmas de Gran Canaria acogerá del próximo 29 de noviembre al 29 de diciembre, la iniciativa ‘LPA Open Sea’, organizada por el Ayuntamiento de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria y el Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria con el objeto de posicionar a la ciudad como destino europeo náutico de invierno y crear oportunidades de negocio a través de la economía azul, que incluye la celebración de dos regatas internacionales, la Semana Olímpica de Vela y el Campeonato AECIO de Optimist.
LPA Open Sea contará con la participación de más de 300 embarcaciones de 14 países en dos regatas internacionales, una fiesta náutica para inaugurar el Fondeadero de El Confital, una jornada de exhibición de vela ligera en la playa de Alcaravaneras y el desembarco de la vela Olímpica en el Parque de San Telmo.
La bahía de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria acogerá, del 5 al 9 de noviembre, la ‘14º Semana Olímpica de Vela’, que organiza el Real Club Náutico y en la que ya han confirmado su participación 130 embarcaciones de 14 países. El año finalizará con otra competición de referencia en el calendario náutico internacional, la regata ‘AECIO, Trofeo Ciudad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria’, del 26 al 29 de diciembre, en la que participarán 200 jóvenes regatistas (entre los 9 y los 15 años) de la clase Óptimist, entre ellos el actual campeón de Europa. Esta prueba proclamará al ganador de la Excellence Cup.
Fondeadero de El Confital
Además, el Ayuntamiento capitalino inaugurará el Fondeadero de El Confital, el segundo con el que cuenta el litoral de la Ciudad, tras la puesta en marcha del Fondeadero de La Laja, el domingo 2 de diciembre con un amplio programa de actos que, bajo la denominación ‘Fiesta del Mar’’, ofrecerá a los ciudadanos una jornada de actividades deportivas náuticas y de ocio en la plaza de La Puntilla (Las Canteras) y en la Playa de El Confital.
La fiesta del mar de la Bahía de El Confital ofertará, entre las 10:00 y las 14:00 horas, travesías al Fondeadero de El Confital; regata de barquillos de Vela Latina Canaria y de Óptimist ; actividades de buceo, kayak, paddle-surf y surf ; rutas a pie por El Confital y mountain bike, entre otras.
El Confital contará con tres zonas para fondear, cada una de ellas con tres boyas, a la altura de La Puntilla, Roque Matavino y Punta Salinas. Igual que ocurre con las boyas de La Laja, éstas permanecerán unidas a unos elladafarmakeio.com de hormigón (de unos mil kilos de peso) sumergidos. El fondeadero podrá ser utilizado de manera gratuita por embarcaciones de hasta 12 metros de eslora para la realización de actividades subacuáticas, deportivas, turísticas y de ocio y durante unas horas.
La Vela Olímpica desembarcará en el Parque de San Telmo
El Ayuntamiento y el Club Náutico contarán con la colaboración de algunos de los regatistas olímpicos canarios para acercar el deporte de la Vela Ligera a los escolares y celebrarán los días 29 y 30 de noviembre un desembarco de la Vela Olímpica en el Parque de San Telmo que se convertirá en un singular varadero. Para ello, trasladará a esta zona de la Ciudad un catamarán de 6 metros y se organizarán talleres educativos para explicar a los niños nociones básicas de navegación.
Además, el consistorio capitalino tiene previsto aprovechar las condiciones de la Playa de Alcaravaneras como cancha náutica de la Ciudad y celebrará el sábado 1 de diciembre una regata exhibición de Vela Ligera en el agua acompañadas de actividades de dinamización en la arena
Las Palmas de Gran Canaria wil host next 29th of November until the 29th of December the initiative “LPA Open Sea”, organised by the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria, aiming to position the city as the European winter sailing destination and to create business opportunities throught the blue economy, including two international races, the Olympic Sailing Week and the AECIO Optimist Dinghy Championship.
More than 300 boats from 14 countries will participate at the LPA Open Sea in two international races, a nautical party to open the Anchorage of El Confital, a day of exhibition of light sailing at Alcaravaneras Beach and the arrival of the Olympic Sailing at Parque San Telmo.
The Bay of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will host the ‘14th Olympic Sailing Week’ from the 5th to the 9th of November, organised by the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria, with the participation of 130 boats from 14 countries already confirmed. The year will come to an end with another reference competition in the international sailing agenda, the AECIO race, Trophy City of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, from the 26th to the 29th of December, with the participation of 200 young sailors (between 9 and 15 years of age) in the Optimist-Dinghy class, with the participation of the European Champion. This race will announce the winner of the Excellence Cup.
Anchorage of El Confital
Besides, on Sunday the 2nd of December the Capital City Council will open the Anchorage of El Confital, the second on the coastline of the City, after the successful opening of the Anchorage of La Laja, with a wide programme of events under the name “Party of the Sea”, offering the citizens a day of nautical sports and leisure activities at Plaza de La Puntilla (Las Canteras) and at El Confital Beach.
The party of the sea at El Confital Bay will offer, from 10:00 to 14:00, shuttles to the anchorage of El Confital, Canary Lateen Sailing races and Optimist Dinghy races; diving, kayak, paddle-surf and surfing, walking routes and mountain bike routes around El Confital, and many more.
El Confital will have three areas to anchor, each of them with three buoys, in the area of La Puntilla, Matavino Rock and Salinas Point. Likewise the buoys located at La Laja, these will be united to some concrete blocks (of around two thousand kilograms of weight) lying on the seabed. The anchorage is able to be used free by boats of up to 12 metres of length to take underwater, tourists and leisure activities for some hours.
The Olympic Sailing arrives to Parque San Telmo
The City Council and the Real Club Náutico will count with the collaboration of some Olympic Champions of the Canaries to get close the sport of sailing to school children, and they will celebrate on the 29th and 30th of December the arrival of the Olympic Sailing at Parque de San Telmo, making of it a real anchorage. To achieve that, a 6-metre-long catamaran will be taken to this area of the city and some workshops for children will be carried out to explain children the basics of sailing.
Besides, the City Council wants to take advantage of the conditions of Alcaravaneras Beach making of it the City’s Sailing Court and on Saturday the 1st of December, an exhibition race of light sailing and some activities on the sand.
