In the heart of Vegueta is the Plaza Santa Ana, the first main square, built on the early sixteenth century. This historic space is an iconic monumental set, location of the Palacio Episcopal (Bishop’s Palace) and the Province Historic Archive, and facing the Cathedral, the Casas Consistoriales (Town Hall). Eight bronze dogs, idly over time and history, are the guardians of the plaza.
